In 1984, Aspen Air moved their operations
out of the homes of the owners and on to airport land and into
Hanger Red 16 owned by Ron Knudsen. Shortly thereafter, Aspen Air
purchased the Cessna Pilot Center franchise for Centennial
Airport. This enabled Aspen to incorporate the Cessna flight
training curriculum into the operation.
By 1987, Aspen Air Corp had facilities consisting of a business office, offices for the club manager and chief flight instructor and a large training classroom. Aspen had a simulator room, an audio visual room, staff rooms and a lobby. Aspen Air began doing business as Aspen Flying Club. In 1987, Norm Osborne and Bud Gates became the sole stockholders. A year later, Sue Osborne (pictured) became the club manager. Wendal Ralph was installed as Chief of Flight Operations. Wendal led the effort to establish Aspen Flying Club as a Part 141 school.
In 1994, operations moved to the Airplaza facility; its current location. In 1997, Larry Ramsdell purchased the business operation of Aspen Flying Club and some of the assets. Larry is now the current owner and President of Aspen Flying Club.
Aspen Flying Club is one of the very oldest and largest Flying Clubs in the Metro Denver Area. It enjoys a large membership, a large fleet of well maintained aircraft, and an excellent reputation in the aviation community.
