Meet Steve Green

Instructor Certificates/Ratings
CFI, CFII, MEI, Tailwheel Instructor; Citation type rating

National and Colorado Antique Airplane Association, AOPA, EAA, International Wheelchair Aviators, Taylorcraft Owners Club

Steve started flying with rides in a Taylorcraft and participating in the Mile Hi Air Derby with a friend. That was followed by a discovery flight at Aspen Flying Club in Feb of 1987. While working full time, he flew mostly for pleasure while gradually adding experience and ratings. Steve still flies for the enjoyment, but thinks that part of that fun is in teaching others to be able to fly, too, not just be passengers.

Flying has opened a whole new world, including barnstorming in an open cockpit bi-plane he helped to restore. He has flown a number of different tailwheel aircraft, and hopes to someday get type rated in "the Ultimate Taildragger", the DC-3.

A part time flight instructor with Aspen Flying Club since 1993, Steve still works as a firefighter full time, is finishing his B.S. degree at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, and in his spare time is restoring a 1946 Taylorcraft BC12-D. As a past Vice President of the Antique Airplane Association of Colorado, he is still active in that organization, as well. Steve is also currently flying a Citation V part time, on a contract basis.

Steve can be reached at Aspen Flying Club (303) 799-6794, or by e-mail at
